The Harry Wilks Study Center at the Villa Vergiliana can be your institution's headquarters along the Bay of Naples. It is uniquely situated and designed as a Study Center to host study abroad programs, international conferences and as a home for study tours. Open year round, it is available to institutions for day, week, month, summer or semester long programs.

Individual scholars are welcome to use the Study center and its modest library with internet access. Whether passing through the region for a few days or needing a base for extended research, the study center is available to members.

For over 50 years the Harry Wilks Study Center at the Villa Vergiliana, a magnificent three-story villa situated at the northwestern corner of the Bay of Naples, has hosted students and academics in this culturally dynamic region.

It is sited in extensive grounds within the archaeological park of Cumae adjacent to the Roman amphitheater with many of the guest rooms and salons enjoying spectacular window and balcony views over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the site of Cumae. As a Study Center, The Harry Wilks Study Center at the Villa Vergiliana offers the perfect facility for an academic conference or study abroad program.

Students and scholars at The Harry Wilks Study Center at the Villa Vergiliana get to experience traditional Italian culture in a bucolic Italian setting. The facility boasts an on-site bi-lingual director experienced in coordinating study abroad programs and study tours. She can assist with transportation, guides, museum and site admissions, and recommendations of highly qualified local scholars to support your program. Her years of experience managing the Study Center allow visiting directors to concentrate on teaching as she arranges all local organizational details. All her services are included in the affordable room fees.

The main floor of The Harry Wilks Study Center at the Villa Vergiliana includes large salons that can be be utilized for lectures, presentations, classes, musical performances and receptions. Also on that floor is a library containing over 6000 volumes including key ancient texts, modern scholarship, guidebooks, and important journals on the history, art and archaeology of the region. Wireless internet and satellite television are also found at the facility along with a digital projector for presentations and film viewings. Groups from 4 to 40 have used The Harry Wilks Study Center at the Villa Vergiliana for a variety of functions from school study tours to major international conferences. The garden level of The Harry Wilks Study Center at the Villa Vergiliana contains the kitchen and dining room, which seats 30 for three meals a day. Much of the food is grown on the property and in the area and is prepared by skilled and experienced cooks who specialize in regional cooking including the use of a traditional wood-burning oven. Breakfasts and dinners are served in the dining room. Lunches can be served or sack lunches for picnics can be prepared for the entire group. The grounds include the gardens as well as a pavilion for the use of visitors. A laundry service is also available. Main floor director quarters and bathrooms allow separation from student dormitory rooms which sleep over 30.
